Setting Up an Artist Account
This guide will walk you through creating your first artist account on Mirlo and getting your music online.
TIP
For more artist features, read here.
Step 1: Create a User Account
First, you'll need to create a Mirlo account. Visit mirlo.space/signup and fill in the form with:
- Email address - This is how you'll log in to your account
- Password - Make it strong and secure
Once you've signed up, check your email for a confirmation link and click it to verify your account.
Step 2: Create Your Artist Page
After logging in, go to your artist management page.
Click on the "Create Artist" button. You'll be asked to provide:
- Artist Name - The name of your artist project
- URL Slug - This becomes part of your artist page URL (e.g.,
mirlo.space/artist/yourslug). This has to be unique across the site.
Once created, you can now manage your artist page!
Step 3: Customize Your Artist Profile
Visit your artist's settings page to personalize your profile:
- Profile Picture - Upload a profile/avatar image
- Banner Image - Add a background image to make your page visually appealing
- Bio/About - Write a short description of who you are and what you do
- Links - Add links to your website, social media, or other platforms
- Email - Add a contact email for fans to reach out
You can access artist settings by visiting your artist page and looking for the settings menu in the bottom left.
Step 4: Configure Payment Settings
Before you can sell music or merch, you need to set up payments:
- Go to your go to your artist management page.
- Click on Set up Bank Account.
- Connect your Stripe account to Mirlo.
Step 5: Upload Your Music
Ready to share your music? You can upload music in two ways:
Option A: Create a Release
- Go to your artist page. Click on the Releases tab.
- Click "Add new release"
- Fill in album details (title, artist, release date, artwork, etc.)
- Drop files into the track upload box.
- Mirlo will process your files and make them available. This might take a minute.
- Double check that all your track information is correct. We try to guess but depending on the file format your files are in, might be less successful.
- Click publish.
Option B: Preview Tracks.
Don't have a full album yet to release? You can either create a release like in option A with just one track or you can attach releases to blog posts as previews.
- Go to your artist page. Click on the posts tab.
- Click on "Add new post".
- Tell us a little bit about the track.
- In the post text, click on the 🎵 icon. Drop your track in "Upload new track".
- Click "Publish post".
Tracks in blog posts will be playable in the browser, and when sharing a URL on social media a player will appear.
Step 6: Decide on Visibility
Once your music is uploaded, you can control who sees it.
- Publication date use this to define when your album becomes visible to the public. Before this date you'll be able to see it, but others won't.
- Pricing: No Payment use this to make your release publicly visible but people can not buy or download it. This could be handy in combination with subscriber only releases!
Optional: Set Up Additional Features
Once your basics are in place, consider exploring these features:
- Subscriptions - Set up supporter tiers for recurring monthly support
- Merchandise - Sell physical or digital merch alongside your music
- Blog/Posts - Share updates with your community via RSS-compatible posts
- Download Codes - Generate codes to share music with press and friends
- Email List - Collect emails from supporters to stay in touch
