Making Subscriber-Only Releases

You can make a release that only your subscribers can download or listen to in full. Everyone else can still see it on your artist page, so it works as an advert for your subscription.

TIP

You need at least one subscription tier first. If you don't have one yet, go to your artist page, open the Subscriptions tab and create a tier.

Step 1: Upload the release

Create the release as usual (see Setting Up an Artist Account). Don't publish it yet.

Step 2: Turn off payments

In the release's Pricing section, choose No payments. The public won't be able to buy or download the release.

Step 3: Add the release to a tier

  1. Open the Subscriptions tab and edit the tier that should get the release.
  2. Under Releases included with subscription, select the release.
  3. Repeat for any other tiers that should get it.

Back on the release's edit page, the Pricing section now lists the tiers that will get the release.

Step 4: Publish

Once you publish, people who already subscribe to those tiers get the release in their collection. Anyone who subscribes later gets it when their first payment goes through. The release shows a Subscriber exclusive badge on your artist page and on the release page.

Good to know

  • People can still find the release. Its page, cover and track list are public.
  • Free listens still play for everyone. Tracks marked as a free listen can be played by anyone. If you want to keep the whole release for subscribers, turn this off on every track.
  • Subscribers keep the release. If someone cancels their subscription, the release stays in their collection.
  • Select the release on the tier, even if the tier gets every new release. The tier setting that gives subscribers every new release only covers people who are subscribed when the release comes out. It doesn't show the badge, and it doesn't give the release to people who subscribe later.
